What is Smart Start?

The YMCA Smart Start is a free program that pairs members with a trained wellness coach.

Together, the member and Y staff will work to set SMART Goals and determine what path is best for the member.

Why Do I Need This Program? 

No matter if you are coming to the Y to lose weight, be more active, or simply meet new people; we know that there is a reason behind your decision. Maybe you want to lose weight because of an underlying health condition or you are looking to drop a few pounds to be more mobile to keep up with the grandkids. The YMCA Smart Start program will help you identify the reasons behind your decision and help determine the best path.

Studies show that only 30% of those who set out on a fitness or wellness journey alone achieve their goal. However, 70% of those who work with a partner achieve success. Our fitness and wellness staff want to be your partner in this journey.


What is a SMART Goal 

Studies show that only 8% of adults who make simple goals will achieve them, while those who write down a SMART Goal are up to 10 times more likely to complete their goal.
