Manor House Tour

Fort Meigs
12/16/24 - 12/16/24
VIEW

The 50th annual Holidays at the Manor House returns. Ring in the holidays at one of northwest Ohio’s most festive celebrations. Each year, volunteers from the community transform over 30 areas of the 30,000-square-foot Manor House into a holiday wonderland. Tour the house and see why more than 40,000 people make Holidays at the Manor House part of their holiday tradition.

The Manor House is accessible by wheelchair on the 3 floors decorated for Holidays. The elevator is 35 x 40 inches and does not accommodate most scooters.

Thanks to a donation from The Ability Center of Toledo, there is one standard 18 inch wheelchair available to borrow on a first come, first served basis. Please note that strollers are not permitted inside the house.

Meet at the Manor House.

Ukrainian Egg Decorating (Ages 18+)

Fort Meigs
12/9/24 - 12/9/24
VIEW

Dive into the world of Ukrainian egg decorating, known as “pysanky” in our fun and engaging 1-hour introductory class. This traditional art form, rich in history and symbolism, uses wax-resist methods to create stunning, intricate designs on eggs. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this class is perfect for you!

Our instructor, Patty Baughman, has been teaching this course for almost 10 years after having the tradition passed on to her from her mother-in-law. The tradition was previously passed on by her mother, a native from Ukrainian, and her mother’s mother, bringing the practice down from over 200 years of combined experience.

What to Expect: Brief History &  Symbolism: Discover the fascinating history and cultural significance behind pysanky and the symbols used in traditional designs.

Step-by-Step Guidance: Learn the basic techniques of wax-resist decorating, including how to handle a kistka (wax stylus) and apply vibrant dyes.

Hands-On Practice: Get creative and design your own beautiful egg, with our instructor providing tips and assistance throughout.

Materials Provided: All necessary materials, including eggs, wax, dyes, and kistkas, will be supplied.
